Shrewsbury 10k: A Triumph For Shrewsbury

  • Posted

With hundreds of runners and spectators taking part in creating a fantastic atmosphere, we are proud to say that this year’s Wace Morgan Shrewsbury 10k was a triumph.

A 10k run not only requires participation, but also dedication and endeavour to complete, and we are truly grateful for all those who turned out to the event on Sunday 12th March. In total, 1,240 runners made their journey along the River Severn, through the town centre and back to the grounds of the beautiful Quarry Park. And what a day it was for it! The sun was out in its full glory, shining down on Shropshire and settling some nerves following the heavy snowfall the UK had experienced earlier in the week.

Of the runners, 25 participants were from Wace Morgan, putting up some impressive times across the board from 42 minutes to 1 hour 16 minutes. While we are proud of our team for completing this gruelling run, we are just as excited to share our fundraising efforts. Collectively, we raised £645 in aid of Shrewsbury Food Hub, and spoke to spectators about the great work the Food Hub does within the area.

Chris Detheridge, Wace Morgan Managing Director – and one of our runners – said: “We are so pleased with everyone’s effort to make 2023’s Shrewsbury 10k the success it was, and even prouder to see our name up on the starting line.”

Participants were provided with Wace Morgan postcards, which included a QR codes with 10% off on a range of our services. As well as participating in the event, our team were on hand to discuss our services and how we can support both business and personal matters. More than this, it was great for the team to meet with locals and enjoy some informal chats!

Many who participated in the race commented on how much they loved our backdrop and Foamex boards. These provided a prime opportunity for runners to have their photo taken upon completion of the race, creating cherished memories that will last forever. Other local businesses involved in the event also provided offers to runners and it was great to see fellow Salopian businesses coming together to support the community.

Of course, this wonderful occasion wouldn’t be possible without the event’s organisers and all the staff involved. From the marshals to the pacers, everyone played their part and everyone involved at Wace Morgan had a fantastic day. We’d like to say a massive thank you and congratulations to everyone involved in the planning and execution of what we felt was a very successful event.

We at Wace Morgan were very proud to sponsor this event, and as part of our goals for 2023, will continue to show our support at other local events throughout the year. Our next community event is the Armed Forces Families Day, which will be held on 24th June.  We hope to see you all there, ready for another sensational Shropshire event.
